Packers Dismiss WR Coach Alvis Whitted
By Adam Weinrib

After word leaked out about Packers WR coach Alvis Whitted's job status, the team's beat writers got to work, and swiftly confirmed the unfortunate news.
Though no changes were made on the defensive side of the ball, Whitted was a casualty of the 2019 season, and was dismissed by Matt LaFleur last week, in the wake of the team's NFC Championship loss.
Can confirm @RobDemovsky that #Packers WRs coach Alvis Whitted was let go. Coach Matt LaFleur let him know last week and word leaked out today that he had made the move. He'll be on the lookout for someone new next week.

Tough blow, but the search for a replacement begins next week in earnest, following the Super Bowl.
This is a difficult move to explain, considering Green Bay overperformed in most areas, and the WR corps wasn't a defined weakness. A patchwork group led by Davante Adams at best, players like Allen Lazard progressed as the year went on, and there was little fanfare surrounding Aaron Rodgers' weapons for the first time in a long time (though, of course, going 13-3 helps).

All in all, the Pack's wideouts were 14th in total passing TDs, league-wide, and 17th in passing yardage. The run game was a strength, as was the pass rush, while the Aaron Rodgers-led passing attack took a backseat in 2019. Apparently, that was enough for a change to be made.
