Packers Should Feel Totally Disrespected by 2020 Win Projection
By Jerry Trotta
It wasn't pretty, but the Green Bay Packers put together a remarkable campaign in 2019. In his first season at the helm, head coach Matt LaFleur led the team to a 13-3 record, which was good enough to win the NFC North and clinch a bye in the postseason as the No. 2 seed.
The Packers even advanced as far as the NFC Championship Game, where they fell to a significantly superior San Francisco 49ers squad.
In all, most would agree that it was a solid season for Green Bay. However, Caesars doesn't believe that success will replicate in 2020. The Vegas oddsmakers have the Pack's over/under in terms of wins is set at 8.5.
Green Bay has every right to feel disrespected by this projection. In a loaded NFC, 8.5 wins would have LaFleur's side on the outside looking in of the playoffs. That's bizarre considering that, thanks to the magician that is quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers are a perennial contender to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
The fact that Caesars has the Vikings' o/u set at nine wins is a farce and serves as a further slap in the face to the Packers. Minnesota has lost a myriad of key contributors this offseason, and it barely nabbed the No. 6 seed last season.
Then, there's the Chicago Bears, whose problem at quarterback is anything but resolved. Somehow, they also have their o/u set at 8.5.
Vegas often knows something the general public would never foresee, but we are having trouble endorsing its 2020 prediction for the Packers, a team who boasted the second-best record in the NFL just a season ago.
