Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Was Actually the Best Man in 49ers DC Robert Saleh's Wedding
By Ian Anderson
Best friends turn into adversaries this Sunday as Green Bay Packers' head coach Matt LaFleur goes head-to-head with the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.
Not many people know this, but LaFleur was the best man at Saleh's wedding and now they stand in each other's way of a Super Bowl appearance.
Saleh and LaFleur go way back. In 2004 and 2005, LaFleur and Saleh were both graduate assistants and roommates at Central Michigan.
In 2005, Saleh made the transition from college to the NFL with the Houston Texans, and brought LaFleur to Houston just three years later. Just like at Central Michigan, the two roomed together again and became even closer.
Saleh and LaFleur aren't the only two that are connected in this game. Matt LaFleur's brother Mike is an assistant for the 49ers. Not to mention, LaFleur and 49ers' head coach Kyle Shanahan were together in Houston, Washington, and Atlanta. AND when Packers' defensive coordinator Mike Pettine was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Shanahan was his offensive coordinator.
There are plenty of ties on Sunday, lets just hope that leads to a better game than the last time these two teams played.
