The Least the Packers Can Do for Aaron Rodgers is Trade for Bucs TE OJ Howard

The Green Bay Packers were unquestionably the leaders in the clubhouse for the oddest 2020 NFL Draft haul, as their first two picks consisted of a backup quarterback in Jordan Love and third-string running back in AJ Dillon, and they didn't pick a single wide receiver despite a deep class.

Aaron Rodgers, who has to feel totally irate after these moves, needs more pass catchers, and GM Brian Gutekunst could pick up the best one available if he trades for Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end OJ Howard.

Despite their insistence they they're keeping him, Howard isn't a great fit in Tampa, as the presence of Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate, as well as Bruce Arians' hesitance to use two tight end sets, should boot the elite receiver out of town.

The Packers have two young, third-round tight ends on their roster in Jace Sternberger and 2020's 94th overall pick in Josiah Deguara. Neither of them, however, should prevent Gutekunst from trading for Howard. Sternberger's entire rookie season was a wash due to injury, while Deguara was best used as an H-back and fullback in college, and is better served in that role than in one that forces him to split out wide like Howard can.

Rodgers has every right to feel betrayed by the organization after their flurry of draft picks that threw logic completely to the wind in favor of transitioning to the next era after a 13-3 season, but the team could still help Rodgers win now if they add a player of Howard's caliber.
