Packers Should Prioritize Joe Schobert Even as Fellow Browns LB Christian Kirksey Visits Lambeau

There's plenty of movement coming for the Green Bay Packers' unsettled 2020 roster. While news broke the team will be releasing veteran tight end Jimmy Graham this week, the defense also figures to be without inside linebacker Blake Martinez next campaign.
Martinez, a tackle machine, is testing free agency and multiple teams have shown interest. With the Packers looking at potential replacements, a new visitor to Wisconsin will be former Browns 'backer Christian Kirksey. Despite that visit, Green Bay must stay focused on the guy fans want: Joe Schobert.

Per a report, Brian Gutekunst and Co. have interest in the 6-1, 245-pounder. Last season with Cleveland, Schobert posted 133 total tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. He's looking for at least $10 million a season in his next deal, and Green Bay may be the team to give it to him.
It'd be a homecoming for the 2016 fourth-round pick, as he grew up in Waukesha, Wisc. and is a former Wisconsin Badgers stud.
It's no longer Scho-time in Cleveland: LB Joe Schobert will hit the free agent market and won't be back with the #Browns, who aren't willing to meet his $10M-plus market price, source says https://t.co/XSupyDhHBo

While Kirksey is a fine LB, he doesn't bring the lumber like Schobert, and wouldn't be as big of a game-changer. For the Packers, should Martinez end up leaving town, which feels likely, a little bit of hometown 'Scho-time' in Green Bay would have a nice ring to it.
