Jordy Nelson Has Hilarious Comment on 'Unretiring' and Swears He's Done in NFL
By Scott Rogust
It's hard to believe that former Green Bay Packers wide receiver and Aaron Rodgers' favorite target, Jordy Nelson, is truly retired. How old are we? Even though he's declared his time in the league over, many have been clamoring for Nelson to make one more run with the Pack.
During an interview with ESPN Wisconsin last week, Nelson provided a hilarious answer to the "un-retirement" question.
“We’re not coming back. There’s no doubt about that. We’re done,” said Nelson, via ESPN. “I’ve always laughed and talked to Emily about it — when you first get in the NFL and you’re performing very well, you’re underpaid; and then when you sign a big contract, you become overpaid. When you’re towards the end of your career, you get released and people say you’re too slow, you’ve lost a step, you can’t play anymore; and then apparently when you retire, everyone wants you to come back.
“I’m confused on what I need to do, so I’ll just stay at home. No one’s ever satisfied,” Nelson finished.
Nelson speaks nothing but the truth. No one will ever be happy with his decision. Imagine if he had come out of retirement for the Packers last year and didn't put up quality numbers? Fans would be clamoring for Nelson to go back home and to never come back to Lambeau Field.
The former Packer was relatively healthy throughout his career, besides a torn ACL that forced him to miss the 2015 campaign. In his nine seasons with Green Bay, Nelson recorded 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns. He signed on with the Oakland Raiders in 2018, but was released at the conclusion of the season, before announcing his retirement.
Sorry, Packers fans. Nelson isn't making a comeback -- even though he was thiiiiiis close in the recent past.
