Packers Literally Claimed a Player Named Mike Tyson and That's Awesome

The new NFL season isn't so terribly far away anymore, and teams are putting the finishing touches on their rosters with some depth signings ahead of the bulk of offseason workouts. Right on cue, Green Bay Packers decided to bolster their secondary by claiming... Mike Tyson?

That's right, the Packers are claiming a player that's literally named Mike Tyson. And as far as the offseason news cycle goes, this is solid gold.

Unfortunately Packers fans, this Mike Tyson isn't a heavyweight champion.

This one is a defensive back that played for Houston Texans last season. He was drafted in the sixth round by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2017 NFL draft. He didn't see much action with Houston, as he recorded five tackles in 10 games' worth of action.

In order to claim Tyson, the Packers waived wide receiver Matthew Eaton.

Tyson was probably brought in just as an extra body for the secondary that may or may not get a proper audition during the preseason. Ironically, there's a chance we see a Tyson-Holyfield matchup on a NFL field, as The Real Deal's son, Elijah, is a new member of the Carolina Panthers, who face off against the Pack in Week 10.

While Tyson and Holyfield aren't guaranteed to see the field that game, we can all enjoy this crazy little coincidence and cross our fingers that it can come to fruition.
