Packers Reportedly Met With Former Browns LB Christian Kirksey
By Brendan Balsamo
The Green Bay Packers have to address the linebacker position in a big way this offseason. Blake Martinez has played in all 16 games for each of the past three seasons, and now the four-year starter is expected to depart in free agency.
With a likely hole in the middle of their defense, the Packers have reportedly met with former Cleveland Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey.
In his six-year career with the Browns, Kirksey has totaled 11.5 sacks, 303 tackles, and 4 forced fumbles in 73 games.
Kirksey played only two games for Cleveland this past season, and is now a highly sought after piece on the free agent market after the team cut him loose. He already met with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday before heading to Green Bay on Thursday. The Buffalo Bills will also host him on Friday.
Kirksey reportedly wants to make his decision "fairly soon," so expect the Packers to try and move fast on this front as well.
