Packers Must Pursue Josh Gordon After Patriots Cut Him Loose

Out of nowhere, it looks like Josh Gordon's playing days with the New England Patriots have come to an end. On Wednesday night, the Pats placed him on Injured Reserve, but he's expected to return to full health soon and land with a new team following the waiver process.
Healthy or not, his time in New England is over, for whatever reason.
When that does happen, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst needs to do everything in his power to get the veteran receiver to Green Bay. Seriously, the wheels need to be in motion already.
Source says Patriots WR Josh Gordon expects to be medically cleared soon, and that his knee injury is "minor". I was told he ran 22 MPH on the treadmill during a rehab session today.

Once he's cleared, he hopes to be released off of IR and sign with a new team.
Yes, Gordon's NFL days have been riddled with suspensions and drug abuse, but the 28-year-old receiver has worked his tail off to get both his career and personal life back on track.
When fit, no one can deny he's a threat on the outside. Thur far this season with New England, he's hauled in 20 balls for 287 yards and a touchdown. Imagine him catching passes from Aaron Rodgers? The Packers sure could use the help too, as they've been forced to have Allen Lazard and Darrius Shepherd see increased action due to so many wideout injuries.

Yeah, the less Shepherd plays the better.
With every practice Davante Adams misses, the Packers have less and less of an excuse not to try to upgrade their deep threats by any means necessary.
While Gordon might be battling back from an injury himself, he'd be a major upgrade for Matt LaFleur and Co. Let's see if the Pack make something happen.
