Packers President Mark Murphy Explains Why Team Didn't Make Any Moves at Trade Deadline
By Parker White

The NFL trade deadline came and went this week, and even though there was plenty of speculation surrounding some premium talent, it was rather quiet and there was a lack of movement from top-tier teams, including the Green Bay Packers.
Every month, Packers president Mark Murphy will write to fans about the team and organization, and he'll answer questions from cheeseheads out there. Well, one fan was none too happy that Green Bay sat on their hands at the deadline, leading to this response by Murphy:

I'm sure that wasn't the answer the fan named Bill and other Packers fans wanted to hear, but Murphy was correct when saying there are other ways to improve the team, whether that's looking at the waiver wire or players being let go who were on injured reserve.
This goes for every sport, but the winner of the offseason or trade deadline usually doesn't end up being the team that wins big. You have to be smart about moving draft picks and mortgaging the future because a single trade that might not work out.

Green Bay has its weaknesses, but they have exceeded expectations and look like a real NFC contender once again. If I was Bill, I'd sit back and enjoy this team that leads the NFC North at the midway point of the season.
