Packers Reportedly Prioritizing Rams LB Cory Littleton in Free Agency
By Brady Williams
The Green Bay Packers need a linebacker. They haven't had a game-breaking playmaker at the position since Clay Matthews, and with Blake Martinez demanding $10 million a year as he enters free agency, the team needs to do some shopping.
Enter Los Angeles Rams' Cory Littleton. In the 2019 season, he was among the top 10 in tackles, interceptions and forced fumbles at the linebacker position. Pro Football Focus values him at $12 million a year, but he's worth every penny for the Packers.
Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber reports that he's exactly who they're pursuing.
The Packers allowed the eighth-most rushing touchdowns and the tenth-most rushing yards in the NFL. If they want to stop getting gashed in that regard, they need someone who can fill every gap at a moment's notice. Littleton has proven to have that kind of impact.
According to Cameron DaSilva of USA Today, the Rams have expressed interest in keeping Littleton around. If they don't cough up enough coin, he'll be free for the taking though.
No team is in a better position to pick up Littleton than the Packers. More importantly, no team needs him more.
