Packers Promoting Tight End From Practice Squad in Wake of Jimmy Graham's Injury
By Kevin Aquino
Green Bay will be without one of its premier offensive weapons on Sunday as it was revealed that Jimmy Graham is dealing with a groin injury.
With Graham at risk of missing the Week 3 matchup with the Broncos, the Packers have dipped into their practice squad for reinforcements.
Tight end Evan Baylis has been added from the practice squad in order to cover for the injured Graham.
The 25-year-old Baylis went undrafted in 2017 before latching on with the Texans. He lated joined the Colts and Panthers' practice squads. It's been almost two years since Baylis held an active roster spot, and he'll surely try to make the most of it Graham's absence.
The Packers have been bitten by the injury bug early this year, prompting Matt LeFleur to opt for a walkthrough in lieu of a full practice Wednesday, saying that several players were "banged up" following the team's win over the Vikings earlier this week.
Baylis recorded a touchdown during preseason this year, and with nearly a full year under his belt on the Packers' practice squad, the organization definitely has enough confidence in the Oregon product to stay afloat in Graham's place.
In four years with the Ducks, Baylis logged 44 receptions for 511 yards and three touchdowns.
