Packers RB Aaron Jones Has Right Mindset Ahead of Pivotal Free Agency
By Emily Adams

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is approaching one of the most significant moments of his career next March, when he will enter free agency for the first time. However, Jones seems cool, calm and collected, despite all the weight a new contract holds (especially for a running back).
Jones is handling his impending free agency better than most athletes in his position (we're looking at you, Dak Prescott). He isn't spending time worrying about factors outside of his control like the 'back market or the Packers' draft picks. He's approaching the situation with loyalty to his team, but he's also prioritizing his own interests. Even if there's more going on behind the scenes, Jones' public response is pretty much perfect.
Aaron Jones said he hasn't thought much about the RB market, or the likelihood he will be able to finish his career with #Packers given the market. His mindset entering contract year: He's confident in his ability and ready to bet on himself.

The Packers have reportedly been in conversations with Jones' agents about a contract extension, which would keep him in Green Bay, where it seems like he wants to be. The real issue is how much Jones will be worth and whether the Packers can afford him.
Aaron Jones on expectations for 2020 and his contract status:

"Whether it's my first year or last year of my deal, I'm going to be just as motivated. I'm going to continue to work."
"I trust the agency and the Packers. I'd love to be in the locker room with the Packers."
Jones was one of the best RBs in the league last year, and with Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey signing a lucrative new deal, his value will definitely take a big jump from the price of his rookie contract, or even from a viable total for a running back deal. We've seen the turmoil that contract disputes can cause. Just look at the unsigned Devonta Freeman, who said he'll sit out the season if he doesn't get his desired salary.
Luckily, we don't anticipate any major drama with Jones' laidback mindset. He's an incredible talent, and he'll do well no matter where he ends up.
