Packers Release 2017 2nd-Round Pick Josh Jones
By Sean Facey

Josh Jones' tenure with the Green Bay Packers has come to an end.
The 2017 second-round draft pick has been released by the team after spending two years as a key member of the defensive backfield. The player himself confirmed the news on Twitter Sunday morning.
It’s been real Green Bay. The Packers just informed me of my release

Jones appeared in 29 regular season games across his two NFL seasons in Green Bay. He was fairly successful in the role he was given, pulling down an interception while registering 3 sacks and 122 tackles.
His relationship with the team was rather icy, though. Jones skipped part of the team's offseason program in the hopes of either getting traded or released, notes insider Rob Demovsky,
Had skipped part of the offseason program seeking a trade or release. He gets his wish now. https://t.co/WAGO5NMwvT

It's not altogether unsurprising that Jones wanted out. The Packers spent the majority of the offseason revamping the secondary both in free agency and through the draft. He essentially had his starting role stripped away from him when the team brought in Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage.
Now, he's a young and authentically intriguing free agent. With the start of the regular season just around the corner, expect the suitors to come flooding in at the start of the week.
Kind of amazing that the Packers weren't able to trade Mike Daniels or Josh Jones.

There's no doubt that Jones has the capability to be a productive member of an NFL defense. He's shown the ability to play as more than just a safety, and he could very well join a team that's looking for a versatile defender.
