Packers Release LB James Crawford to Make Room for Recently Acquired LB BJ Goodson
By Parker White

On Monday, the Green Bay Packers acquired linebacker B.J. Goodson from the New York Giants, even though it appeared he would be waived. Well, the Packers weren't waiting around and pulled the trigger on a trade.
Of course, they need to make room for Goodson, so Green Bay is releasing fellow linebacker James Crawford.
The Packers are releasing LB James Crawford to make room for B.J. Goodson, who was just acquired in a trade. @mattschneidman and @ByRyanWood are faster tweeters than me (or their sources told them a minute before mine)

Crawford, who signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent last summer and played his college ball at Illinois, played in all 16 games and recorded just nine combined tackles and one fumble recovery in his first NFL season.
With Crawford out and Goodson in, #Packers stay with 4 inside linebackers: Blake Martinez, Oren Burks, Goodson, and 7th-round rookie Ty Summers. Crawford's release perhaps a sign Burks will return from torn pectoral sooner than expected, which Brian Gutekunst suggested yesterday.

While the 24-year-old player wasn't guaranteed a starting spot on this defense, he was named a captain on special teams during his rookie season, which is pretty impressive.
Now, though, Crawford will be looking for a new team and city to call home. We'll see if someone ends up taking a chance on the now former Packer.
