Packers Release RB Corey Grant, Re-Sign Safety Ibraheim Campbell
By Parker White
The Green Bay Packers made a couple roster moves on Thursday ahead of the team's 2019 preseason debut with the Houston Texans.
The team released running back Corey Grant and subsequently re-signed defensive back Ibraheim Campbell, who was transferred to the PUP list.
The Packers just recently signed Grant, though after a few days he once again finds himself searching for a new NFL home. The 27-year-old spent four seasons with the Jaguars where he totaled 454 rushing yards on 81 attempts with 3 touchdowns.
Campbell, 27, played for three different teams last season, including three games for the Packers. He racked up 18 combined tackles, a tackle for loss and one forced fumble. The safety suffered a torn ACL as a member of Green Bay last year, which is why he was immediately placed on the PUP list.
Campbell was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two and a half seasons before joining the Texans midway through the 2017 campaign.
