Packers Release WR Jawill Davis Following 1st Preseason Game
By Sam Dunn
The Green Bay Packers finally returned to the field Thursday, getting into some preseason action with the Houston Texans. And with a return to football comes the need to trim down the roster ahead of the proper start of the 2019 campaign.
With that in mind, Saturday brought a new roster casualty: wide receiver Jawill Davis.
Davis, a rising second-year NFL player, signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent one year ago. He appeared in seven games, and occasionally featured as a kick return man. He caught just four balls as a rookie, and ended the season on IR after succumbing to a knee injury.
The Packers added him to their practice squad off waivers in May, and he recorded one kickoff return for 24 yards Thursday against Houston. And that's all she wrote for his Green Bay career.
