There's no doubting that the preseason is comprised of many flaws, but no blemish is greater than the unpredictability of potentially season-altering injuries. Green Bay Packers rookie defensive end Rashan Gary was carted off the field with an apparent upper-body injury suffered during Thursday night's preseason contest against the Oakland Raiders.

Of course, tonight's clash was surrounded by a large deal of controversy as the conditions of IG Field in Winnipeg forced the field to be shorted to 80 yards, and saw the Packers sit more than 30 of their players. Unfortunately, Gary was not among those to sit.

Gary's injury occurred during a collision with another player, as he was hit from behind.

Demovsky understands that Green Bay's medical staff was attending to the head/neck area of Gary at the time of the hit. Neck injuries are always of great concern, so the Packers will likely be cautious with their rookie defenseman.

This isn't even the first injury Gary picked up in the game, having limped off the field earlier. The first-round pick is extremely valuable to the Packers' defense and fans will be hoping that he avoided any sort of serious injury.
