Packers Safety Darnell Savage Seen in Walking Boot Despite Previous Positive Injury Update

It's looking like Darnell Savage might not be as close to returning as we thought.

The Packers rookie starting safety had to be sidelined after suffering an ankle injury against the Cowboys last Sunday. Fans feared for the worse, but were pleasantly surprised when an injury report from Monday stated he had a minor ankle tweak.

Unfortunately, the most recent sighting of Savage on Tuesday indicates that his injury is more severe than originally reported. He was seen sporting a boot on his left foot in the locker room.

Perhaps Savage and the Green Bay medical staff are just using extra precaution to get the safety ready for next Sunday's matchup against the Texans. But there's also a legitimate possibility that the team isn't letting the public in on how bad the ankle is.

Losing Savage for a significant amount of time would be huge, as the first-year defender already has 15 tackles on the year. Then again, the Packers easily defeated the Cowboys without their star receiver Davante Adams, but they'd rather not be forced to overcome yet another ailment, this time on the defensive side of the ball.
