Packers Owe it to Aaron Rodgers to Move up in First Round and Make Latest NFL Draft Report a Reality

The Packers desperately need a legitimate No. 2 receiver to line up opposite Davante Adams, as the likes of Equanimeous St. Brown and Allen Lazard just aren't going to cut it.

And no -- signing Devin Funchess this offseason wasn't enough, either. If the Packers want to prove that they're not complicit in wasting away the final years of Aaron Rodgers' career, they need to make a big move in the NFL Draft for a legitimate target.

Thankfully, a report from Ian Rapoport suggests something might be brewing.

Green Bay sits at pick No. 30 in the first round, so it will take some major fireworks to move up past the 20's, should they so choose. However, even past the likes of Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Henry Ruggs III, this wide receiver class is impressively deep.

The Packers should have their eye on a number of options. If Ruggs is off the board, LSU's Justin Jefferson could make for a terrific selection.

This isn't rocket science.

Trading away future assets hurts, but the Packers need to live in the present, especially with their future Hall of Fame QB now at 36 years of age.

What's the fun in waiting?
