Packers Sign Former Jaguars RB Corey Grant
By Sam Dunn
As the Green Bay Packers open up camp, a pack of new faces will don the famous green and gold for the very first time.
And among those debutantes will be running back Corey Grant, who's fresh off spending the first four seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 27-year-old Grant, who hit the pros as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn, has appeared in 38 career games and started two. Though only sparingly used during his time with the Jags -- he's never carried the ball more than 32 times in a whole season -- he does have a tidy 5.6 yards per rush to his name, which certainly doesn't hurt.
It may be that if he catches on with the Packers, Grant's best use is as a special teams guy, but some extra depth at the skill positions is nothing to get mad at -- particularly given Green Bay's notorious turnover at the running back position over the years.
