Packers Signing WR Breshad Perriman in Free Agency Makes a Ton of Sense
By Karl Rasmussen
While majority of the top free agents have found new homes, a handful of quality players still remain unsigned. The Green Bay Packers are still looking to buff up the wide receivers group, though they aren't exactly flush with cash.
Some fans may be clamoring for the team to pursue former Jets deep threat Robby Anderson, but there's a better option available for Brian Gutekunst to poach.
Enter Breshad Perriman, who enjoyed a sensational second-half of the season in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 26-year-old wideout could be a great addition for the Packers to lineup opposite Davante Adams, and likely wouldn't cost them too much money.
In 2019, Perriman recorded career highs in receptions (36), receiving yards (645), and touchdowns (6). His six scores were more than any Packers receiver last year, and he would have ranked second on the team in yards.
The deep-ball threat averaged 17.9 yards per catch last season with Jameis Winston throwing to him. Adding him to Aaron Rodgers' arsenal of weapons and that figure could rise, along with the rest of his production.
Various teams are still said to be interested in the four-year veteran, but the Packers would be a great landing spot and a logical fit for the emerging talent.
