Padres Announce They're Bringing Back Classic Brown Jerseys
If you're not a fan of the team, it can be hard to understand the mania that ensues when teams change jersey colorways. The San Diego Padres spent more than two years researching and testing for the new jersey that was unveiled today, and it comes with some nostalgia.
While it's technically new, this jersey in actuality is a return to roots for the Padres. Brown and gold is the colorway that the Padres originally wore when they first came on the scene in Major League Baseball in 1960.
Fans should be ecstatic to know that the Padres announced they'd be bringing back the brown uniforms in 2020.
A lot of Padres fans have been clamoring for years for the brown to be brought back, as they felt it was a part of the team's identity. The Padres seemed to understand the gravity of the situation, and ran an entire social media campaign to let fans know that the brown would be back.
Things culminated in an event open to the public at Petco Park, in which fans enjoyed free foods and beverages and witnessed the unveiling of the jerseys from Padres players.
All of this has to generate a lot of goodwill between the fans, and the Padres, heading into the 2019-2020 season. If you're going to change your jersey colorways, do yourself a favor, do it like the Padres.
