Padres to Activate Rookie Phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. From IL Ahead of Thursday's Game
By Parker White
The San Diego Padres have lost seven out of their last 10 games, but they are getting reinforcements soon. Rookie phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. will be activated before Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals.
Tatis has been out since April 28 when he landed on the injured list with a hamstring issue. While he's been out, the Padres have been struggling, posting a 15-19 record during since the young slugger stepped aside.
Tatis was stating an early case for NL Rookie of the Year before going down, as he's slashed .300/.360/.550 with 6 home runs and 13 RBI over 27 games.
When he's doing his thing, he can be the straw that stirs the drink in San Diego, especially with the early struggles of Manny Machado. His presence is an immediate upgrade for the Padres, who shifted Machado to shortstop and played the likes of Ty France and Greg Garcia at the hot corner with the rookie out.
Luckily, San Diego will return to a left side of the infield that features Tatis and Machado, arguably the pairing with the highest upside in baseball.
