The San Diego Padres (46-50) head to Chicago on Friday to take on the Cubs (52-44) in the opener of a three-game weekend set. The Cubs will look to pad their slim lead over the Brewers in the NL Central, while the last-place Padres hope to claw their way back into the Wild Card race.

How to Live Stream the Cubs-Padres

First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 PM ET from Wrigley Field and will be televised on NBCSCH and FSSD as well as the MLB Network. The game can also be viewed on the MLB Streams subreddit.

Padres Lineup

The lightning rod at the top of the Padres lineup is 20-year-old Fernando Tatis Jr. The young stud is batting .326 with 14 home runs in 60 games this season, and he's been electric in the field and on the basepaths. Hunter Renfroe has lived up to his job in the cleanup spot this season, as he's knocked out 27 home runs already this year.

Young righty Eric Lauer (5-7, 4.04 ERA) will take the mound for the Friars on Friday after three consecutive solid outings. Since June 21, Lauer's pitched to an ERA of 1.59.

Cubs Lineup

All-Star shortstop Javier Báez has been uncharacteristically unproductive in the last month, putting together just a .755 OPS in his last 30 games. Fortunately, he has stars Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo batting behind him in the three- and four-holes to pick up the slack.

Veteran southpaw Jon Lester (9-6, 3.74 ERA) will be on the bump for the Cubs Friday. He's been a bit inconsistent this season, but he's bounced back well in his six games since a bad start against the Dodgers on June 13.

This series features two teams with plenty of star power, and the opener should be a fun matinée for baseball fans.
