The San Diego Padres (48-53) remain in Queens on Thursday for the finale of a three game set with the New York Mets (46-55). Both teams will be looking to take the rubber match and preserve their slim hopes of getting back in the Wild Card race.

First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 PM ET from Citi Field and will be televised on SNY, FSSD, and MLB Network. The game can also be viewed on the MLB Streams subreddit.

Padres Lineup

The Padres are going with a familiar lineup Thursday after catcher Francisco Mejia got the night off Wednesday. Massive free agent signing Manny Machado was disappointing early in the year, but he's turned it around, batting .295 with 12 home runs in his last 30 games. He's preceded by the electric Fernando Tatis Jr. and light-hitting center fielder Manuel Margot.

The Padres send young left-hander Eric Lauer (5-7) to the mound Thursday, as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing outing against the Cubs, during which he surrendered five runs and six hits in 4.2 innings. The 24-year-old has shown flashes this season, but he's prone to the occasional implosion on the mound.

Mets Lineup

NL batting leader Jeff McNeil gets the day off, with utility man J.D. Davis playing left field in his place. Behind Davis is the star of the lineup, rookie Pete Alonso, who is tied with Mike Trout for third in the MLB with 33 home runs.

Defending Cy Young Award winner Jacob DeGrom (5-7, 3.02 ERA) will take the hill, hoping to get some rare run support from his club. In DeGrom's last 52 starts, he has an incredible 2.18 ERA, and, even more incredibly, a record of just 15-16.

This should be a nice matinee to take in some baseball and see the veteran, DeGrom, duel with the young gun in Lauer.
