Panthers First-Round Pick Derrick Brown Calls Out Article for Degrading His Girlfriend
Derrick Brown received life-changing news when he was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. The defensive tackle out of Auburn was selected No. 7 overall and is set up for a huge payday.
Going in the first round puts Brown in the spotlight, so many are already aware of the articles that have been written about Brown and his girlfriend having one child together (with another on the way). It's difficult to present that news in a controversial manner, but Robert Littal of BSO found a way to do just that. Brown was quick to defend his girlfriend, Tayla Main.
The couple has been together since 2014, so obviously it's insulting and also demeaning to refer to Main as just Brown's "baby mama." Brown didn't like that and he was quick to respond.
The replies to the original tweet go right along with Brown's feelings on the matter. This was an unnecessary way to frame an article and portray a happy couple that's about to be parenting two children. Unfortunately, this is just the latest example of inappropriate coverage regarding prospects and their family members during this year's NFL Draft.
