VIDEO: Pat McAfee Roasts Zion Williamson in Player Intros Before Lakers-Pelicans
By Adam Weinrib
With all hands on deck before the second Zion-LeBron matchup of the season in New Orleans on Sunday night, ESPN analyst and former punter Pat McAfee set things up properly by emceeing the introductions for the primetime battle. Did he take the straight and narrow? Hold back on the jokes? Well, about that...McAfee saved some of his best material for Zion's moment in the sun.
How did Zion react? Stoically, of course. Just went about his business.
Yes, the dirty truth comes out.
Yes, Zion Williamson is one of the absolute most electric young NBA players we've ever seen. He spends his days bullying full-size NBA players out of his way like they were paper mache replicas. But that being said, an inordinate amount of his high school highlights featured dangerously underqualified opponents getting absolutely bowled over.
It shouldn't take anything away from the Young King to note this -- McAfee was just doing a service that he felt was warranted. Never forget where you came from, Rookie of the Year.
