Pat Shurmur Delivers Priceless Quote After His Son Kyle Was Promoted to Chiefs Active Roster
By Michael Luciano

Very rarely does the coach's son that gets to play quarterback actually make it to the NFL without some egregious nepotism, but Kyle Shurmur managed to do just that.
The former Vanderbilt star, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs after the draft and managed to latch on as a practice squad player, was promoted to the active roster after Patrick Mahomes' injury. This announcement was followed by some top-shelf dad humor from his father, who just happens to be New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur.

“It’s good. Maybe he won’t have to charge us for Ubers anymore.”
A three-year starter, Kyle had some excellent games on some bad Vanderbilt teams, throwing for 8,864 yards and 64 touchdowns against just 29 interceptions.
He attracted the attention of NFL scouts when he threw 24 touchdowns and just six picks in his senior year. Shurmur went 33-for-56 for 316 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick in the preseason, and was signed to the Kansas city practice squad.
Asked Chiefs coach Andy Reid about this and Pat Shurmur's comment below. Reid chuckled, but said he's liked what he's seen out of Kyle Shurmur, pointed out the rookie QB had a good training camp.

Chiefs elevated Kyle Shurmur to the active roster yesterday. https://t.co/vRyHv149b7
Congratulations to Shurmur for betting on himself and fighting onto an active roster. If Reid tires of him and releases the former Commodore, he could always join the family business and end up with the Giants.
