Saturday is here, and instead of more clarity on Patrick Mahomes' status, the quarterback position in Kansas City is now shrouded in even more mystery than it was before.

The Chiefs have activated veteran Chad Henne from injured reserve and have promoted defensive tackle Joey Ivey, meaning they now have three quarterbacks on the depth chart.

Videos of Mahomes in practice suggested that the he was close to taking the reigns back from Matt Moore against the Minnesota Vikings, but with Henne now available, it's unclear what Andy Reid's plan is under center. If anything, this could be a sign that Mahomes is still a bit of a ways away from seeing the field again.

The standout star has been out of action since he suffered a knee injury in Week 7.

Moore has appeared in each of the Chiefs' last two games, guiding them to a win in the contest where he replaced Mahomes and a loss in his only start. It's unlikely that Henne would fare any better than him.

At the very least, it keeps the rest of the NFL on their toes. Mahomes is a game-changing talent who causes problems for every defense he faces, and keeping his status under wraps could give the Chiefs a bit of an edge, even if the backups in Moore and Henne are sub-par.
