Patrick Mahomes set to start the Chiefs preseason opener vs. Jaguars
While most teams stay away from sending their starters out to open the preseason, Kansas City Chiefs head man Andy Reid likes to do things a bit differently. He's been known for sending his players out onto the field to start a summer and this year is no different.
On Wednesday, Reid announced that quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other starters will take the field this weekend to face the Jacksonville Jaguars. Obviously, this is the news that a lot of people were hoping for.
Mahomes and Co. won't be out from start to finish for this one. Instead, Reid said they'll be available for the first quarter of action before making way for the backups. Still, seeing Mahomes lead an offensive series or two will be a lot of fun. Keep a close eye on rookie wideout Xavier Worthy too, as he and Mahomes have been building chemistry throughout camp.
