Patrick Mahomes Weighs in on Contract Situation With Chiefs and Fans Should Be Thrilled With His Insight
By Thomas Carannante

The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves with a very busy and complicated offseason ahead. They have a tight cap situation and many players to take care of both in the short and long term.
One of those long-term players is star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is expected to land the richest contract in the history of football when his time comes. However, the Super Bowl MVP doesn't want his mammoth deal holding the Chiefs back from winning more championships.
After catching up with Patrick Mahomes this week, one thing became uber clear to me:

Despite a jam-packed offseason - and yes, I asked him about his contract, Dez, visiting the White House & more - he still isn’t satisfied with just one Super Bowl.https://t.co/WQqMlAYaUr pic.twitter.com/7h0PApGxFA
Via Yahoo! Sports' Terez Paylor, Mahomes said, "I want to make sure I do it the smart way and do it the right way, and so I don’t know exactly which way that is, yet. I know that my people and the Chiefs’ people will talk about it, and will do it at the right time and for the betterment for the team. But I’m excited to be a Kansas City Chief for a very long time, and I know that’s going to be handled the right way because of the people the Kansas City Chiefs have in their organization.”
We're not sure how that will get done, but if Mahomes is already open to being flexible at this point, it's a really good sign for the Chiefs, who already have to do some financial gymnastics this offseason.

The Chiefs would've had no problem throwing the kitchen sink at Mahomes, but now they could get lucky if he's willing to accept a team-friendly figure and allow them to invest additional resources elsewhere.
