VIDEO: Patrick Mahomes' Team USA Baseball Highlights Are Impressive
By Michael Luciano

For a 3-star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes put up quite the highlight reel at Whitehouse High School in Texas. Unsurprisingly, his highlights as a pitcher were just as jaw-dropping, if not more so. Mahomes II, the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes I, rocked his dad's old No. 28 during his stint with Team USA in high school, and the arm strength was obviously on display.

That fastball was no joke.
Mahomes did have a baseball future at one point, as he was drafted in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Obviously, he didn't sign with the Tigers, opting instead for the greener pastures of football provided by Kliff Kingsbury and Texas Tech.
“No, Patrick, you want to play baseball when you get older. Forget football. You should be a baseball player, just like your dad.”

How wrong was I about that one? Thankfully young Mr. Mahomes didn’t take my advice & the rest is history

No matter the outcome of Super Bowl LIV, Mahomes clearly made the right choice in football. However, if he were somehow able to wiggle his way into spring training like Russell Wilson does every year, we'd be glued to our television screens. Who wouldn't want to see Mahomes hurling some 95 mile per hour gas on the mound?
