Patrick Mahomes to Undergo MRI Friday After Chiefs Reveal He Suffered a Dislocated Knee
By Karl Rasmussen
Chiefs fans can let out a collective sigh of relief as the team has finally released an update regarding the status of their starting quarterback .
The Chiefs revealed that Patrick Mahomes suffered a dislocated knee, but avoided a break in the bone. He's set to undergo an MRI Friday which should provide more information and a potential timetable for his return to action.
This is certainly encouraging news, particularly that he avoided a broken kneecap.
While on the ground after suffering the injury, cameras caught footage of a member of KC's training staff popping Mahomes' knee back into the proper position. That is said to significantly reduce the pain, while also suggesting that the QB didn't suffer any ligament damage.
The cart was brought out to escort Mahomes from the field, but the quarterback waved it off and walked off the field under his own strength. He was taken for X-Rays and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game.
As of now, Chiefs fans can rest easy knowing that their franchise player and reigning MVP avoided a truly devastating injury. And while he will still likely miss some time, things could have been MUCH worse.
