The selection of Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft spelled the end for Andy Dalton in Cincinnati, and it became official on Thursday when the Bengals parted ways with their starting quarterback for the last nine seasons.

So, where will he land?

Despite professing their faith in Jarrett Stidham as their next starting quarterback, the Patriots have reportedly explored bringing Dalton, who threw 16 touchdowns and 14 picks last year, into the building. The Jacksonville Jaguars are also interested.

Bill Belichick is not the kind of guy who will put up with silly mistakes, especially when it comes from a young quarterback. Dalton gives Belichick a rock-solid veteran who can be expected to assume the starting role and keep Josh McDaniels' offense humming along more consistently than the volatile Stidham.

He struggled in 2019, yes, but that was a byproduct of being on the worst team in the league. New England will provide Dalton with better coaching and more structure.

While many are pencilling in Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills as the new kings of the AFC East now that Tom Brady has moved on, Dalton landing in New England would help the Patriots once again make a push for the postseason.

If this moves comes to fruition, it'll prove that once again the Patriots' patience prevails amid all the media criticism.
