VIDEO: Bill Belichick Shares Funny Story of Jokingly Threatening to Cut Tom Brady
By Jerry Trotta
Does Bill Belichick have a future as a stand up comedian? Absolutely not, but the lethargic Patriots head coach is capable of cracking wise every now and then. The six-time Super Bowl champ joined co-hosts Rich Eisen and Cris Collinsworth on NFL Network's "NFL 100 All-Time Team" reveal show last month. Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis joined the set after being named to the squad, and at one point during their discussion, Belichick recalled a humorous story of him threatening (jokingly, of course) to cut Tom Brady.
That's amazing, and further proves that Lewis kept Belichick awake nights on the eve of a Patriots clash against the Ravens. Of course, the 67-year-old HC wasn't serious, but the segment made for comedy gold.
Ironic, right?
And yes, the jokes do go both ways on this one, transcending franchise lines.
And what made the panel that much more perfect is the fact that Brady agreed with Belichick cutting him if he kept throwing in Lewis' vicinity. Belichick should seriously consider letting loose more often.
