Patriots C David Andrews Confirms He'll Miss Entire 2019 Season in Emotional Instagram Post

Until Saturday, there was at least some hope that David Andrews would be able to play for the New England Patriots in 2019 despite the blood clots in his lungs, but that was put to rest on Saturday.
The fan-favorite center took to Instagram, confirming in an emotional post that he'll miss the entire 2019 season due to the medical issue.
"Unfortunate start to 2019 for me," he wrote in the caption. "Thankful for all the thoughts and prayers from everyone. Best believe I'm doing everything I can to get back out there in 2020. Go Pats and Go Dawgs."
Andrews, an undrafted rookie free agent back in 2015, has established himself as the team's starting center. He had missed just two games over the last three seasons, both of which came in 2017. Now, though, he's set to spend his season on IR.
His friendly demeanor has endeared him to the Patriot faithful, and that only compounds the pain of losing him for the year.
In his absence, backup lineman Ted Karras will take over. Karras has been a jack-of-all-trades for the Patriots ever since they drafted him in the sixth round back in 2016, and now he'll be asked to take on the starting duties at center while Andrews heals.
The big man's on the path to recovery, and hopefully he'll be healthy and ready to go for next season.
