Patriots 'Furious' at Former Character Coach Jack Easterby for Joining Texans
By Brian Cass
New England Patriots former Team Development/Character Coach left the team this offseason to join the Houston Texans as their new executive vice president of team development. And the Pats organization is not happy about it.
According to Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal, Easterby's departure from the team didn't sit well with the organization, stating that the Patriots are "furious" with his decision.
Apparently, Easterby was not a fan of the Robert Kraft prostitution charges earlier this offseason, as he publicly shared his feelings on the situation. Kraft's charges apparently played a part in his departure from the team.
Furthermore, when Easterby attended the Patriots ring ceremony to commemorate their latest championship, he tried to persuade Nick Caserio - whom the Texans tried pursuing for their GM vacancy before the Pats filed tampering allegations against them - to join him in Houston. Not a great look for someone who just burned his bridges with the organization.
This new development will add a new twist to the Patriots-Texans rivalry this season. It'll be interesting to see, considering the rivalry stems mostly from the front office, rather than between specific players on the field.
They'll face off again in Week 12 of this upcoming season in primetime, and we'll all be anxiously waiting for this matchup once the season gets underway.
