Patriots Have NFL's Oldest Roster Entering 2019 Season
By Daniel Marcillo
Age is just a number right?
No matter how good Tom Brady plays or how many people try his diet plan, it will not add any youth to the elderly Patriots' roster.
After the New England Patriots cut down their roster to 53 players, they stand as the team with the oldest average age in the league.
This is not much of a surprise considering the makeup of their roster. The Patriots love hardworking veterans, and the fact that their quarterback is 42 certainly pushes the bar.
The Pats have one of the deepest rosters in the league and they will need all of it to defend their Super Bowl championship. In terms of age, they have a .6 lead over the second-place Philadelphia Eagles.
Brady's top target Julian Edelman is 33, and recent acquisition Demaryius Thomas is 31.
The Pats feature more than their fair share of players age-30 and above. This earned them a lot of criticism for their lack of young players to replace their aging stars. It's a formula that has proven successful in the past, so there's really no reason for the Pats to stray away from their winning ways.
