Patriots DB Joejuan Williams Arrested for Drug Possession
By Jackson Thompson
Tennessee continues to be a topic of gloom for the New England Patriots.
On Wednesday, reports surfaced that defensive back Joejuan Williams was reportedly arrested last week for alleged possession of drugs. The arrest was reported to have taken place in Cumberland County, Tenn., Williams' home state.
Williams was stopped by the Tennessee highway patrol for speeding on Interstate 40. Troopers allegedly found an unnamed controlled substance, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Now, the second-round pick out of Vanderbilt will face charges of speeding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. This comes less than a month after the end of his rookie season, in which he was part of arguably the most effective secondary unit in the league.
Williams appeared in 10 games as a rookie, playing primarily on special teams. He played 80 snaps on defense as a reserve defensive back. Williams recorded five total tackles in the regular season and one in the Wild Card game against the Tennessee Titans.
