Patriots Lose Key Special Teams Player Brandon King for Season to Torn Quadriceps
By Thomas Carannante
The New England Patriots suffered a number of injury scares on Thursday night, but none worse than what happened to special-teamer Brandon King.
The veteran was carted off the field in the second quarter against the Carolina Panthers, and it was later revealed he's expected to miss the season due to a torn quadriceps.
King, who was entering his fifth season out of Auburn, had appeared in 57 games for the Patriots since entering the league in 2015. The defensive back mostly contributed on special teams considering he has just 13 tackles, a forced fumble and a safety to his name.
But unfortunately for the Pats, King wasn't the only casualty on Thursday.
Among they key guys, Benjamin Watson entered concussion protocol and Harris, whose injury issue was kept under wraps, is said to be OK.
Nonetheless, with just under two weeks left until the regular season, the Patriots cannot afford to have worthwhile contributors go down considering their first game is against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
