Patriots Reportedly Place Rookie WR N'Keal Harry on IR and Re-Sign Demaryius Thomas
By Jerry Trotta
It looks as though the Foxborough Faithful will have to wait to see what exactly they have in 2019 first-round selection N'Keal Harry.
Per insider Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have placed the rookie out of Arizona State on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Schefty believes that Harry will return to the active roster at some point this season, but, of course, he will not be eligible to rejoin his teammates until after Week 8.
It's certainly a tough pill for the former Sun Devil stud to swallow, as he impressed in New England's preseason opener, making a pair of impressive catches. However, after his second grab, Harry limped off the field and has struggled to recover since.
In a corresponding move, Bill Belichick and Co. have re-signed vet pass catcher Demaryius Thomas roughly 48 hours after partying ways with him -- though the plan was to always bring him back to Foxborough at some point.
The NFL guru understands that DT will sign a one-year deal.
The four-time Pro-Bowler displayed a palpable understanding of the Pats offense in his first cameo with the team, logging 87 yards and two touchdowns (in one half) during New England's preseason finale -- his first action since suffering a torn Achilles last season with the Texans.
Until Harry's return, Tom Brady will have the likes of Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Thomas, and Phillip Dorsett lining up out wide for the first half of the 2019 season, a group that should be more than capable of carrying the load.
