The Patriots were dealt a major blow earlier this week, as it was announced ace kicker Stephen Gostkowski was being placed on Injured Reserve with a hip injury. Just like that, his 2019 campaign is over.

However, the Pats were working overtime prior to the announcement, bringing in kickers for workouts to find a suitable replacement. On Thursday morning, New England made the call and signed Mike Nugent, per multiple reports.

As insider Mike Garafolo notes, Nugent has never been on a team that's won a postseason game. We sure like his chances with Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the rest of the Pats.

The 37-year-old Nugent has suited up for the Jets, Cardinals, Bucs, Bengals, Bears, Cowboys and most recently the Raiders. For his career, he's hit 253 of 311 on field goal attempts, good for an 81.4 percentage.

If you were a Younghoe Koo guy instead, don't worry--he's sticking around.

That'll help!

I wouldn't go that far, Ian. However, there's no doubt there will be plenty of pressure on Nugent to perform in New England. Let's see if he can fill Gostkowski's mighty shoes.
