Patriots Reportedly Trade Disgruntled DE Michael Bennett to Cowboys
By Mark Powell

Michael Bennett's tenure in New England did not go according to plan, and now both sides are due for a fresh start.
Bennett stated just days ago that he did not necessarily learn anything from his team-issued suspension. Now, he'll get a chance with a new organization.
The Patriots are dealing Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys, and their compensation is minimal, but perhaps appropriate given his production of late.
Per @AdamSchefter and @Schultz_Report: New England is trading DE Michael Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys for 7th-round pick that can go to a 6th-round pick in 2021.

At this point Bennett was more of a distraction for the Patriots than opposing quarterbacks, and Bill Belichick doesn't have time for that as he's chasing New England's seventh Super Bowl ring, a mark which would be an NFL record.
• Bennett dealt in 2018 from Seattle to Philly with a 7 for WR Marcus Johnson and a 5.

• Bennett dealt in 2019 from Philly to NE with a 7 for a 5.
• Bennett dealt later in 2019 from NE to Dallas for a conditional 6/7.

Bennett's days of being a Pro Bowl-caliber defensive end are behind him, but the Cowboys are taking a flyer on a once-productive player who could, at least if used sparingly, might be able to apply some pressure on opposing quarterbacks down the stretch.
There's no question he'll be on thin ice in Dallas, however.
