Patriots Reporter Ben Volin Somehow Claims His Nick Caserio 'Report' Was Actually Just His Opinion

According to Sean Pendergast of Sports Radio 610 in Houston, the report about Nick Caserio wanting out of New England was only speculation on the part of Patriots reporter Ben Volin.
The radio show spoke to Volin Monday as he clarified that his report was, in fact, not a report at all. Rather, his article discussed the idea that he believes Caserio wants out of New England based on his thoughts about the situation, not that the exec actually plans to leave the organization.
We had @BenVolin on the show today @SportsRadio610, and he made it clear that his piece about Caserio is his OPINION, not a report. It’s being aggregated as a report of fact everywhere. Not the case. https://t.co/w9CZ4D4jNL

The Patriots declined to allow their director of player personnel to interview for vacant general manager openings the previous two seasons, causing Volin to speculate if tensions could be increasing between the two parties. Caserio is in the final year of his deal and Volin expects him to leave for Houston in the offseason, should there still be an opening.

This story comes on the heels of New England filing tampering charges against Houston for its pursuit of Caserio to be its next general manager. The charges were dropped once Houston agreed to look elsewhere for its vacant GM position.
The Texans plan to move forward without an official general manager this season, allowing head coach Bill O'Brien to call the shots as they await their opportunity with Caserio this offseason. In the meantime, the Patriots will have their guy for at least one more season.
