Patriots Fans Should Be Furious Rob Gronkowski is Reportedly Joining the WWE
By Jerry Trotta
When analysts and fans began pondering what the future holds in store for New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski when he announced his retirement from the NFL, a career in the WWE was one of the first suggestions considering he appeared at Wrestlemania a few years back.
After countless cryptic hints from Gronkowski which have speculated a move to the WWE, it appears the 30-year-old is close to signing a deal with the professional wrestling association.
That should absolutely infuriate football diehards in Foxborough.
When Gronk decided to hang his cleats up after the 2018 season, most Patriots fans probably assumed he was done with professional sports, and rightfully so. The WWE obviously won't come with as much wear and tear on former four-time All-Pro's body, but if he's participating in matches there will still be a physical toll to be taken.
He's going to do that and risk further damage to his body but not play football?
Gronkowski cited the rash of injuries he sustained in the latter stages of his career as one of the reasons he retired. New England devotees can take no comfort in the fact that he's close to inking a deal with the WWE to enter the ring with some of the world's most ferocious beings.
