VIDEO: Former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski Makes Mark on WWE and Opens Wrestlemania 36 With Funny Intro
By Mark Powell
Fear not, America. Rob Gronkowski is here to satisfy our boredom. The former New England Patriots TE flaunted his personality in ways Bill Belichick never allowed at Wrestlemania 36, introducing his well-known alter ego, Gronk, while providing us with the sports entertainment we so desperately needed on Saturday night.
If there's a party Gronk isn't invited to, it's probably not a fun one.
We can laugh off the scripted aspect of WWE, but you have to give them credit for finding a way around COVID-19 restrictions, at least for now. With all major sports leagues suspended for the time being, there's an open slot for WWE to gain popularity, and debuting a new personality we're all VERY familiar with is a great way to garner some interest.
If there's any symbolic end to the Patriots' dynasty, it's this. Tom Brady's former favorite weapon is clad in an animal-print jacket and aviator sunglasses. There's no football helmet to be found, and Gronk wouldn't have it any other way.
This won't be a seamless transition, but we applaud Gronk for his fearless attitude.
