New Report Denies Patriots Have Legitimate Interest in Antonio Brown
By Scott Rogust
Antonio Brown dominated headlines on Thursday. First, it was his intent of countersuing former trainer Britney Taylor for defamation in regards to her rape allegations against him. Then, a report dropped suggesting the New England Patriots have "kicked the tires" about bringing back the mercurial wide receiver.
It only took a few hours for that news to be nullified, however. According to Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston, the team actually has no interest in re-signing Brown to the team and are "unwilling to go down the same road again."
The two sources that Curran spoke to essentially laughed off the speculation that Brown would ever return to the Pats. When asked about the chances, one of the sources replied, "what's changed?"
Well said.
AB appeared to have squandered any shot he had of rejoining New England after going on a social media tirade about team owner Robert Kraft months ago. Earlier in the week, Brown tried to get back in the Patriots' good graces by issuing an apology to Kraft on his social media accounts, but for now, it may as well be too little, too late.
Drama was always going to follow Brown, and the Patriots knew this when they signed him immediately following his release from the Oakland Raiders in September. But they insisted that they had no knowledge of the lawsuit against hin, which made the decision to cut ties with him that much easier.
As of now, Antonio Brown's tenure with the New England Patriots will still remain at one game.
