Patriots Writer Thinks N'Keal Harry Will Do Better With Jarrett Stidham Than Tom Brady and We Can't Stop Laughing

N'Keal Harry was taken by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and high expectations were immediately put upon the young receiver. He had the chance to become Tom Brady's top target and potentially help the team win a Super Bowl. Instead, the rookie had 12 receptions for 105 yards in only seven games.

Harry did deal with injuries, but it was also clear Brady was not zoning in on the rookie as he finished with 24 targets in his seven games played. Now, Brady is in Tampa and Harry and the Patriots will get a fresh start. The only problem is that the quarterback play will go down in a big way. Yet one Boston writer thinks that will help Harry. What?

Ryan Hannable of WEEI makes the case that Harry will have less pressure on him with Jarrett Stidham as quarterback. Well yes, Stidham will likely be nicer to the receiver than Brady was in 2019. However, a receiver not being able to succeed with Brady is not the legendary quarterback's fault.

This take is some next-level "homerism" from Patriots writers. Harry's best chance to succeed was with Brady. That did not go well and he will face even more pressure in 2020 to lift up someone like Stidham who is light years away from Brady in talent.

Also, Harry preferring an unproven player over someone like Brady shows he may not have what it takes to succeed on a contending team. Not being able to get on Brady's "good side" was not the fault of the quarterback. There is a difference between rooting for someone to succeed and making claims that losing one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history will boost a receiver's game.
