Paul George Claiming He Grew up a Clippers Fan is a Slap in the Face to Lakers
By Jerry Trotta
To say that Paul George SHOCKED the entire NBA landscape last summer when he announced that he would be re-signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder over his hometown Los Angeles Lakers wouldn't even begin to describe our initial reaction.
Ever since the six-time All-Star let it be known that he wanted out of Indiana, most skeptics and pundits labeled him and La La Land a match made in heaven. And they were (sort of) right.
As we know, PG-13 is now a member of the Clippers, and during his introductory press conference on Wednesday, he did not waste time taking a subliminal shot at the Lakers.
That, right there, should say it all. And we wouldn't blame Lakers Nation if they took these comments as one giant slap in the face, especially since his Twitter history clearly says otherwise.
It seems he's downright lying to keep the narrative in his favor, but the internet isn't going to believe him and this will be a storyline all of next season.
The Lakers have always reigned supreme in LA over the Clips, who have always been considered that "other" team from Los Angeles, desperate to reach the Lakers' prestige and acclaim.
Not in George's eyes, at least at the moment.
Should we just presume that Playoff-P always fancied the idea of playing for the Clippers over the Lakers, despite his allegiances to the city?
Well, when you compile Wednesday's comments with his reaction moments after the trade and his shocking spurning of the Lake Show last year, you can absolutely surmise that to be the underlying truth.
